When Was The Thirteenth Amendment Passed In The United States?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

After constant victories of the Union army, it was just a matter of time when the North would win the war against the South.  Although the Union army had fought bravely and fiercely to end the power of the Confederacy, in its quest of victory it had also managed to ignite the inferno of venom in the hearts of the Southerners against the North and the Union.

These victories of the Union army increased the popularity of President Abraham Lincoln as he was reelected to a second four-year term in the year 1864 by defeating Democrat George McClellan, who was the Union army's whilom leader.  At the start of the next year, which was 1865, the Congress passed the thirteenth amendment, which was the greatest milestone for American history, which officially abolished the curse of slavery and enabled millions of enslaved African Americans to experience the taste of freedom.
