Calculate The Number Of Moles Of Carbon On A One Carat Diamond?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

As long as the wt. Of the diamond is known then based upon gram molecular wt. It is possible to determine the no. Of moles of carbon in the diamond. The actual wt. Of one carat is approximately 0.2_mg to calculate the no. Of moles present in 0.2_mg of Carbon 12 we continue as follows:

One mole of Carbon 12 is 12_grams, therefore divide 0.2/12= 0.0167_moles present in 0.20_grams of Carbon 12 which is the wt. Of a 1_carat diamond.
