Have Any Good Ideas For A Week Long Family Vacation ?

Answer Question

Have you considered camping in the woods/mountains or seashore?  That is a relatively inexpensive way for even a large family to be together and to enjoy the fantastic world we live in.  You will need a few supplies such as cots, tent, lantern but all of those can be used over and over again throughout the years.  Camping/park fees are "waaaay"  less than staying in a hotel.  It calls for a little more work on the part of the cook but once again the labor is worth it since food cooked at your campsite is a huge savings over restaurant food.  Parks have restrooms available.  Almost all the campsites will have water and if you are willing to pay a little extra - electricity.  Sitting around the campfire at night while making smores and sharing family stories is a great way for a family to make memories that will last a lifetime.

I discovered a place I wouldn't have thought of taking my family. It's located between Texas, Tennessee and New Orleans.

I grew up at a time when care trips were nothing to write home about. It took forever to get there. I didn't have an Ipod or hand held game.

Last spring we drove to McCurtain County Oklahoma to visit Broken Bow Lake. Although they had movies, video games, and music to zone out too in the car we found our quality time to be quite special. In between the movies and video games we talked about what was happening in school, what was the latest gossip, who at school was doing drugs, and who they had a crush on. We learned a lot about what our children deal with everyday in school and had a new found respect for how hard it is to been a kid.

When we got to Broken Bow the family disbursed to their respective favorite activities. The hubby golfed, fished, and boated. The kids swam, hiked and kayaked and I....enjoyed every minute of it and it was the best road trip I ever had. Our Broken Bow family time was something to write home about and I feel we got closer because of it.

I discovered Broken Bow Family getaways from a friend that goes scuba diving there several weekends out of the year. It's actually quite affordable and beautiful all year long. And there is so much to do. There are a lot of water sports, nature hikes, kayaking and the views are amazing. There isn't anything pretentious it's just awesome fun. I learned how to fish and kayak and honestly there just wasn't enough time to do everything. We even brought my in-laws that happen to love bingo and gambling and we had a place to drop them off : )

Good luck with your search. Here is a website with more info McCurtain county Family  Getaways.

It would help to know your location and interests, but I would suggest you pay a visit to this family vacation planning site where you can take a look at some nice vacation ideas and figure things out.
