My Landlord Did Not Pay The Power Bill Causing Me To Lose $615.00 In Income. He Verbally Told Me To Deduct It From The Rent, And Now He Wants His Money. What Can I Do?

I own a dance studio and rent space in a building. The landlord is responsible for paying the utilities and he apparently did not and our power was shut off for a day. My loss of income for that evening was $615.00. The landlord told me to deduct it from the rent or I could send the whole rent and he would send me a check back. I did not trust him to do so, so I deducted it. He says I am only entitled to $41.67. He threatened to turn our power off if not paid.

What a con man. The trouble with cases like this especially land lords when ever they talk about money you should always ask it from them in writing and ask them to sign it then they cant argue. In your case it is a bit difficult because he can just deny any knowledge of ever saying it try threatening him with a law suit it may work it may not good luck any way!!
