What Is Heart Burn?

I have had a quick read through the Internet. I know it's to do with the stomach and stomach acids etc... I am worried if it has anything to do with the heart. Has it? And is it life threatening? Or am I just worried silly? THANKS

Heart burn doesn't involve the heart, and you really should get it checked out, as you can have ulcers, or gastritis or something else to do with the stomach. Hope this helps, good luck to you.

Heart Burn is really a slang term GERD or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.  GERD is basically where the acids in your stomach that normally digest your food back up into your esophagus and creates indigestion and a burning sensation in the chest area, hence the term "Heartburn".  It has absolutely nothing to do with your heart.  It is a good idea to go see a Gastroenterologist if you are having serious Heartburn after you eat or when you lay down in the bed at night.  Laying down after eating will make it easier for the acid to travel upward and cause you to have pain.  There are a great number of things that can cause GERD, so it is best to have it checked on if it is worsening or occurring more frequently than what is normal for you.  Hope this helps and good luck with doctors.

Your right but it doesn't have anything to do with the heart it has more to do with the esophagus which is in the heart area.It is caused when the mixture of acid and food in the stomach splashes up through an opening into the esophagus.Hopes this helps!:-)
