Belaire Apartments, the Manhattan (New York City) apartment building in which the mystery author Carol Higgins Clark lives, was hit by a small airplane on the eleventh day of the month of October in the year 2006.
The airplane which crashed into the building was flown by a fixed-wing airplane owned by Cory Lidle, a pitcher who represented the famous New York Yankees baseball team. The main impact zone of the crash was on the thirty-ninth floor of the building. The crash started a fire. It was initially believed to be related to terrorism, but the FBI stated that it was not a terrorist act.
Ms. Higgins Clark, who lives one storey below the main impact zone of the crash, was not injured in the accident. Two people, including Lidle himself, died in the crash.
