Lanier is located in Florida in the United States. It was platted in the year 1886 by Colonel 'Thomas C. Lanier'. A census survey carried out in the year 1895 shows a very small population of 87 persons. At that time the town comprised only of a post office, a railroad depot and an express office. However later the town was abandoned after a short period as the dual freeze wiped of the entire citrus crop population in the area.

In the February 2003 the most of the lots that were platted were purchased by the Cattle Country, LLC. The cattle country started marketing the land which was based on the original map of the town. During the re development of Lanier the only evidence found from the previous settlement was of fragments of glass or porcelain.
