Is Something Wrong With My Pug?

I have a 2 year old pug that has gained a lot of weight in just his belly over the last few months. Now he is so fat that his spine sticks out from the belly pulling the skin down. Do you think that something is wrong with my dog?

Your dog needs to be examined by a veterinarian.  Pugs are a breed very prone to obesity.  Your dog's diet and body condition score need to be reviewed by a veterinarian.  Intestinal parasites cause weight loss and gastrointestinal signs.  In young puppies it can cause a pot-bellied look--if your dog had this severe of an infestation I am very surprised you have not noted any worms in the stool or diarrhea.  While possible cancer is highly unlikely in a dog of this age.  Lipomas are benign fatty tumors that are common and can grow quite large--again in a dog of this age it is unlikely one grew so big so fast.  With a bowel obstruction your dog would be vomiting, not eating, and lethargic.  Bowel obstructions are life threatening and not a concern in a healthy dog with a chronic problem.
This dog needs guidance from a veterinarian after thorough examination followed by diagnostic tests as appropriate.

There are many things that can be the reason for this, you really need to take him in to be seen, it could be a worm, or something like that, or even a tumor, or cancer. Hope this helps you out, good luck.

He could have a bowel obstruction of some sort or a tumor growing.   I had a Boston Terrier with similar symptoms and it was a tumor.  I would not hesitate to have it checked out by a vet.
