Can Anyone Tell Me About The Sky And Stars?
how far is the sky and do the stars move?
1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating
The sky is the big blue roof above us. On the sky we can see sun in the morning, the moon and the countless stars at night. The sky in fact is an empty space all around our earth. It causes clouds, rain, and cool winds. Sometimes it brings hail and snow storms and sometimes dusty and very hot winds.
If someone asks how far it is from the earth? we can only tell that is very far from us. It is not possible to measure its distance from the earth. It is so far that its nearest neighbour, the moon, is 240000 miles away.
A star is a burning matter of gases and has its own light like fire-balls. The sun is also a star. The stars are fixed and they do not move but the planets move round their axis and also around the sun. The moon is the star of the earth. It revolves around the earth in a fixed orbit. It completes its circle around the earth in about 29/30 days. The Islamic Calendar is based on the movement of the moon. The study of the stars is Astronomy. The Muslims astronomers like Abdul-Haissam, Bu Ali Sina and others discovered many new groups of stars and gave them names in Arabic. We can still find these names being used.
The modern science is working hard to discover new things and bring the mysteries of universe into light.
