She is getting on my nerves and I can't go through life pretending not care even when I tell her I do.
My suggestion is to be honest whatever you do and do whatever you like. Your friend is not an optimist and encouraging personality. You should avoid her as much as you can and you have to tell her to mind her own business. It is your life and you have every right to spend it according to your will. But do take opinion of your parents, whenever you need to make some important decision in your life.

You're wrong about one thing. This person is not your friend, because friends do not treat friends with such contempt. She has little respect for you and by allowing her to get away with what she does, you show her you don't respect yourself. I don't think that's true, so tell her to cease and desist, or just drop her from your list of friends. She's stabbing you in the back, and you don't have to put up with that.
