    The Ten Commandments silent film was released by Paramount Pictures in 1923. Cecille B. DeMille directed it. The later version was also released by Paramount, was directed by DeMille, and was released in October of 1956. It had an all-star cast including Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner. It won an Oscar for Best Special Effects and was nominated for six other categories.
