    It is a free or almost free OS. Linux is the main open source OS. Linux is based on the Unix system which is the same kernel used by the Apple Mac. Linux is not the only such operating system, although it is by far the most widely used open source OS. Linux can be had in may variants. Red Hat, Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora just to name a few. Open source means it can be changed by anyone at any time.
