Installing a garage door opener is quite a straightforward project and the installation procedure is too detailed and too manufacture-specific- to be put down in a document.

Generally there are three basic types of garage door openers; they are chain-driven, belt-driven and screw-driven. Prior to the installation of the garage door make sure it is well-lubricated and working properly. The weight of garage door is generally supported with the help of door springs, cables and pulleys-not the opener. Deactivate and remove all existing garage door locks, so that they don't get accidentally damage the opener. Always remember never to wear rings, watches, or any kind of loose clothing while fitting garage doors. Make sure that you install the power unit high enough so that tall people can pass through it.

I have a model 3985 craftsman garage door opener. I installed it, with all the red wires, green wires yellow wires, & gray wires twisted together according to their respective color. There is a port on the side of the unit to insert a red, two whites, & a gray wire. I put all the reds in the red port, the yelllow in one white port, green in the other white & gray in the gray. The unit won't run, when I push the wall bell button, it just clicks. The green sensor are flickering. What can I do to fix the problem.
