What Is Russet Apple?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A russet apple is a type of an apple which has russeting all over it. This russeting comes mainly over its skin, which becomes rough and are usually greenish brown or yellowish brown in colour. Many of the apple cultivars have some amount of russeting over it; however some apples are entirely covered in russets. This is mostly found in the Egremont Russet. The apples with russet on them have always exhibited very different scent and flavour. Even with all these qualities many modern apple breeders rarely accept the russeting which comes along with new apples. The alternate name for the russet apples are rusticoat.
