How Cigar Hygrometers Work?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Hygrometer is an instrument for measuring the humidity levels. It is used to gauge the content of water vapour in the atmosphere. A simple hygrometer is also known as psychometer. A hygrometer may have various sensing the atmospheric humidity such as hair of animals, synthetic filament that can shrink and expand with changes in RH or digital hygrometers which use thin film silicon.

Hygrometers are also found in cigar humidors. Cigar humidor is a wooden box or container that is specially designed to store cigars and other tobacco products where a constant humidity is maintained. This helps to store tobacco for a long time as well as maintain its aroma and also lends its own to the cigars if kept there for a long time. The hygrometers in the humidors also work just as it does elsewhere and is used to gauge the relative humidity in cigar humidors which would help to maintain the required level of humidity without wasting much time, effort or money.
