    It is an award for quality and the full name of it is Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. This award was instituted by the government of the United States of America in the year 1987. The motive behind instituting this award was to encourage the American companies to improve quality and also competitiveness among them.
             
    There are several criteria on which the performance is being judged and it include leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, process management, human resource focus and the results obtained.
             
    If we take the strategic planning, it is segmented into two parts; one is the strategy development and another one is the deployment of the strategy. Customer and market focus includes customer and market knowledge and relationship and satisfaction of customer. Its human resource focus section includes work system, learning and motivation of employ and well-being and satisfaction of the employ.
