If I remember my Parasitology from last term... If the worms are large and round they are Toxocara canis they can be fatal if not treated. They can also be transmitted to humans. The human form is called Ascaris lumbricoides, and are very serious, and can be fatal also. If the worms are small and flat with rounded ends, they are more common in dogs and aren't necessarily dangerous unless they are untreated. Instead of an expensive visit to the vet, go to a pet supply store and purchase a worm medication. If you have more than one pet..TREAT THEM ALL, as any parasite can be transferred to all of them. Check your dog's stools every time to see how many she is passing... It should lessen in about 5 o 6 days. Re-medicate your pets as directed on the package. If the stools are not clear in 2 or 3 weeks THEN call your vet. My Golden Retriever puppy passed a Toxocara about 2 months ago, I medicated all 3 dogs, and all 3 cats, I never saw another one after than and all are healthy. Also, don't feed your dog raw meat of any kind, and don't let her scrounge things off the ground. That is usually how a dog or cat gets worms to begin with. Two of my cats are outside cats and hunt for mice all the time, so we worm them every 2 or 3 months as a precaution. Good luck.
