What Are Some Dos And Donts Of Making A Complaint?

Answer Question

    DO:

Write a full letter, well written, stating your complaint clearly and giving clear examples, with names, times, dates etc in order to evidence your complaint.

Call to follow up the letter if you do not get a response within twenty one days.

Write again if you are dissatisfied, there are often other people who this can be taken up with, Banks for instance have an ombudsman who will often deal with things on your behalf, as is the case with banks charging their customers illegally in the UK at the moment.

Stay calm.  Be polite but very assertive.  If you are kind and understanding, they are highly unlikely to help you, you need to be assertive enough for them to see that you mean business. If you need to make first contact by telephone, remain calm.

    DONT

    Be threatening in the slightest.

    Do it by telephone.

Be under the misapprehension that anyone genuinely cares about your case, they don't, you just need to make it too much for them to ignore.

Swear, it will give them grounds not to deal with the complaint.

While complaining on somebody it should be as if not to break the relationship. The approach should be in a positive way.

      It should not look childish
