The sun and the moon are celestial bodies and they are always there. We have day (when we see the sun) and night (when we don't see the sun), at different parts of the world at different times due to the rotation of the earth around its axis. The lunar cycle happens due to the moon rotating around the earth. We see the moon everyday except the day of the new moon which is when the moon is located right between the earth and the sun. Similarly we see the full moon when the earth is located between the sun and the moon. We generally can see the moon at night because it is too bright during the daytime to locate it in the sky. However, sometimes we can see the moon when it is not completely dark, that is in the morning as well as in the evening. This is because at these times the light from the sun is not so glaring and we can still see the reflection of the sunlight coming from the moon.
