    You need at least 8 hours of sleep a day if you don't want to be miserable or feel tired during the day

      It really depends on your age

      infants sleep almost the whole day - just not when you want them to

      children to teens need 8-9 hours of sleep

      after that it varies some until about age 65 when most people to sleep about 6 hours a day, but not all at one time. This is why Grandma sleeps 3 hours a night and takes naps throughout the day.

        I've heard that most adults should get 7-8 hours a night. I usually run on about 5 though and I function just fine.
