Yes, they should be optional.... Actually the children, who feels comfortable to give or submit CBSE Board examinations can give those exams and who says that they are scared to give the exams, can not probably give the exams... But these exams will give the pattern for 12th CBSE Board Exams, so in my point of view, they should be optional...
