How Is Java Superior To VB?

By VB I assume you mean VB version 6. If you need your program to run on multiple platforms (like Linux), then the answer is yes. If you want a true object-oriented development language, then again the answer is yes.
If you want to quickly develop programs that only run on Windows then VB may be a better choice. VB.Net is a far better choice as it has most of the language advantages of Java.
