What Does Rasp Mean?

A rasp is a type of tool that is used for the shaping of wood, it is known as a wood working tool. It mainly consists of a point or a tip, which is connected to a long steel bar, followed by heal, bottom and then the tang. The tang in turn is connected to a handle that is mainly made up of wood or plastic. The rasp bar has sharp teeth's cut into it, and it is normally cuts more coarsely than the files.

Rasps are used to rapidly remove wood from carved surfaces; however they remove less wood than a draw knife. The other additional profit of using a rasp is that they are extremely easy to handle. There are three types of shapes in which a rasp is available; round, half round and flat.
