Bengal has one of the biggest Muslim populations in the world. The missionaries patronized by the Muslim rulers also conveyed the teachings of the Holy Prophet of Islam to the native people. These teachings emphasized on one God and equality of men in His eyes. The occupational groups who were doomed to perpetual subordination became willing converts.
