Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Gravy train is a colloquial idiom. It is usually referred to any sort of lucrative endeavor. The word "gravy" it self was used before the phrase "gravy train" came out. It was referred as an outburst of pleasure at something that's easy to do with a great reward. At times it was put forward as an adjective to describe a certain situation.

The term gravy train is also being used by an American dog food company. The concept was originally developed by Quaker Foods. It is also one of the first brands to offer powdered gravy. The gravy makes dog food more appetizing for consumption. Their advertising catch phrase goes as "The Gravy Tastes Dogs can't wait to Finish". Gravy train originally belonged to General Foods Corporation under the Gaines brand but has been a Del Monte Foods product since 1995.
