Fibromyalgia is called syndrome because it is collection of many symptoms. It is not only the pain but many more symptoms which are due to this disorder. These symptoms can be due to many other diseases. For example loss of memory, loss of sleep, weakness, bowl problems and many more.

Well, I have had Fibromyalgia for 15 years and it is now know to be caused by an imbalance in brain chemistry. Seratonin to be exact. It's even considered a sleep disorder.  It causes widespread pain, sleeplessness, fatigue, multiply allergy syndrome, plus it takes lots and lots of minerals and vitamins to keep things under control, and because it is something that now can be diagnosed as a disease, my insurance was cancelled!!  It's right up there with Cancer, Lupus, and is considered to be an arthritic condition.  I see a rhuemetologist for it and they now have meds to help. Lyrica.  It sure has seemed like a disease to me.  I think it just takes the medical profession awhile to study these newer ones and decide if it's real or not, in the meantime..............ouch!!!!
My mom had MS for 4 years before the medical community recognized her as actually being ill.  Her insurance was cancelled too.  Hmm........

Fibromyalgia is not a disease, is a syndrome. A disease can kill you, fiber. Does not. Thus syndrome
