The word sensible has its origin in Latin and is taken form sensibilis. It was taken from sensus which means sense. Sensible is an adjective. When you describe someone as sensible, you praise his good sense of doing things or intelligence. A sensible person understands different matters and is witty. The quality exhibited by this person is termed sensibleness.

Something which is perceptible by senses or by mind is also addressed as sensible. For example: sensible desert. Sensible could mean having the quality of sensing things with the help of our senses. Sensible could also mean being aware or cognizant. For example: sensible of her mistake. A sensible quantity of something is significant or large. It is tangible or substantial or phenomenal.
