What Is A Shift In Progression?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A shift progression in a truck refers to the pattern that you go through the gears while driving.
There are many manufacturers of transmissions, therefore there are many different patterns that you would need to use to shift through the gears without grinding the gears or otherwise hurting the drive train. Some shift patterns include two seperate shifters. Some are air assisted split shifters; shifted from high range to low range every shift. Some go through the entire low range first and then go through the high range for the faster speeds. Some even have low med and high ranges.
