You need to do bachelors in Pscyhology to become a psychologist. Look for any psychology institute in your city.
Psychotherapists are generally Clinical Psychologists. Therapy is their specialization.

PhD degree of psychology is usually about 5 years. Your communication skills has to be extremely good, and you have to be open minded and you need to understand life closely to become a psychotherapist Are you ready to become a counsellor?

actually a PHD is usually 8 years, a masters 5-6 and bachelors is 4. If you are working during that time (like my father did) it can take much longer, a PHD will also depend on the nature of your dissertation and how long it takes to do research. Which could include clinical studies, experiments, hardware, software development etc. also increasing time frame.

As I said above in my comment a PHD is usually about 8 years. A masters degree is about 6 years. You will need a masters at least. If you want to become a psychiatrist, then you need an MD and it will take around 8 to get your degree and another 2-4 to get your license.
