How Do You Ceramic Tile Over A Wood Floor?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Using ceramic tile over a wood floor is a fairly common practice. Ceramic tiles take far more wear than those that were manufactured years ago. They also come in a variety of sizes. The bigger tiles require less grout lines and generally look less busy. It's important to find the right scale of tile for the room. Also be sure that the tile you choose has the longevity to suit the type of room you are tiling.

The more 'square' the room is, the easier it is to tile. For instance, benches and other features require you to cut tiles to fit. There is a lot of measuring involved, so the process takes patience. You will certain feel a sense of satisfaction when the job is complete. Tiling a wood floor is too lengthy of a process to describe here and illustrative photos are a big help. This website has some information on tiling floors though: www.thetiledoctor.com
