An easier way to install crown molding is to pick up some corner cornices made especially for crown molding. They manufacture inside and outside cornices and they are inexpensive. Around $3 a piece.
Sometimes it is very difficult to get the proper angle on crown molding because many walls are not perfectly square at the corners. So just cutting a 45 degree angle is not always going to fit right.
