What Is Genetic Recombination?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Genetic recombination is the process in which the DNA and even the RNA strands break down and they are joined by another such DNA molecule. In humans, the process also takes place and that is the reason why an offspring contains characteristics of both the parents when their DNA are recombined. The chromosomes from the parents combine together and their sections are exchanged so that the new organism has characteristics of both parents. The process of genetic recombination can be done artificially in labs as well to form recombinant DNA. This had led to the creation of new species of plants and seeds.
