Should A Mother Be Allowed To Spend Child Support Money On Beer And Drugs?

I pay child support to a mother who has not worked for at least 12 years and sits at home and smokes pot every day and drinks, does not have a car, her mother lives in a trailer paid for by me ,8 years ago we split and I have abstained from all drugs since, It Burns me up to see the money taken out of my check ( I have never missed child support payment) and used for the mothers personal use. I feel that all mothers who receive child support should be drug tested, is this unfair ?.

Hi, I agree with you, if the child is being neglected because of the Mother's habits.  You should not be giving her child support.  Do you have any proof are you thinking about what she did in the past, when you were with her.  People do change.  Now if you have proof that she is still drinking and taking drugs, you should take legal action.  Fight for custody of your child.   Take your child out of that environment, be a real father.  Paying Child Support is not what parenting is all about, you need to also be there for the well being of YOUR child. How are you going to feel later in life, when you see your child with the same habits of her mother.   Please stop complaining and step up and be a Father and really take care of your child.  Take care!

Thanks for the comments, I have gone to court and have spent every unused penny I could get on a lawyer and have a joint custody agreement set up by the court, I see my daughter every Wednesday and every other weekend and have a holiday schedule, There is no proof and the legal system will not do anything until she gets caught. The lawyers say I have a 50 50 chance if I come up with around 25000 for their fees. My daughter is very well informed about drug abuse and asks all kind of questions about her living arrangement and wants to come live with me when she is able to make that choice in 2 or so years.
