The term sudoriferous is an adjective which is used to mean conveying, producing or secreting sweat; as in 'sudoriferous glands'.
Human beings possess just two types of sweat glands which vary significantly in the composition of sweat as well as its purpose. They are the eccrine sweat glands and the apocrine sweat glands. Some idioms using the word sweat include 'no sweat' which is slang for 'easily done or handled'. An informal one is 'sweat blood' which means to work strenuously or diligently. It could also mean worrying intensely. 'Sweat of (one's) brow' is another expression used to mean hard work.
The term comes from the Late Latin sudorifer; coming from the Latin term sudor, meaning sweat.
