I don't know for sure but here is my guess. I think (I know) that hamsters are very energetic and hyper. I think they are so small and-Their species is used to being out in the wild. Free. With all land. My guess to stop this is letting them out in one of those balls (I have one!!) or get them a running wheel they like. Hope this helps! -Taylor
