How High Is 'Rich Mountain'?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Rich Mountain Wilderness is located in the state of Georgia in the United States. It was designated in 1986 by the United States Congress. The Rich Mountain Wilderness covers a total area of 9, 476 acres. It is 4, 050 metres high and is home to a number of species of plants and animals which are fast dwindling in number and are placed under the top priority on the endangered list. The United States Forest Service is the department that has been entrusted with the complete responsibility of managing the entire wilderness and is in charge of its maintenance and upkeep.

The Rich Mountain landscape also includes about thirty miles of trout streams and waterfalls, and the forest is the natural habitat for many wild animals, such as deer, squirrels, raccoons, wild turkeys, grouse, black bears, quail, woodcocks and wild hog. Though the land around the wilderness is a private property, the human beings that are the most likely to throng this place are big-game hunters. It is not uncommon to spot lost hikers and horseback riders in this area, even though no trail has been established for these purposes.
