Can I Use Information Written By Someone Else In My Book?

I am writing an educational book to be used by home-school families. Some of the information in the book was orignially written by other people. Do I have to get their consent to use it or do I just have to make sure they're listed in my book?

I'm not sure, but I think it would be no. That would be plagiarism. If you copied the exact words, if not then it'd probably be ok.

Always try to get consent. At a minimum, you should give credit to the original author through internal citation or footnotes (whichever style you're using elsewhere in the book). Even a summary of their work needs credit, contrary to popular opinion. Your editor can help you with this as well.
