The first IndoChina war was fought in Tonkin that is located in the Northern part of Vietname. It was between France and Vietnamese National Army against the Viet Minh. The conflict spread throughout the country and immobilized the Vietnamese people. More than 300,000 people died, 500,000 injured and 150,000 were captured most of which were Vietnamese. The French departed from IndoChina and Vietname was provisionally divided. The economy of the area was highly effected.
