What Is A High IQ Range?

Answer Question

In general, someone with an IQ score of over 100 is considered to be of average intelligence, whereas anyone who has an IQ score of above 130 is supposed to be classified as intellectually gifted.

In 1916, Lewis Terman classified as "genius or near genius" an IQ score of 140 or more. However, this classification that is no longer used. "IQ" stands for "intelligence quotient", and since its development, an IQ test is extensively used as a method of measuring intelligence.

Today the test which is commonly used is called the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test. What is believed to be the earliest version of this test was developed in France in 1905. While there are a number of other intelligence tests, the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test is probably the best known. IQ tests do not take into account all meanings of the term "intelligence". For example, it does not measure creativity. IQ scores are relative (like placement in a race), not absolute (like the measurement of a ruler). It is important to note that many researchers today are proving that simply having a higher IQ does not act as a guarantee of success in life.
