Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Morning Glory refers to range of twining vines having funnel-shaped flowers that close late in the day. They belong to the family of Convolvulaceae. As it names suggests they open at morning time. It allows itself to be pollinated by hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and insects that are diurnal in nature. These flowers have a very short life span. They bloom in the morning and die in the late afternoons. These plants have new flowers everyday.

The flowers of this plant prefer mesic soils and sun throughout the day. But they start fading and curling very visibly after a few hours in the morning. They are perennial plants in tropical areas and annual plants in colder climates. Asagao is also a name for Morning Glory in the Japanese language. It has laxative properties and is hence used as a medicine also. It is also well known as an ornamental flower.
