Netscape, the computer internet browser was created by a young man named Marc Andreessen. Marc Andreessen was born on July 9, 1971 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He is best known for his work as a computer scientist and as a business personality.

He attended the University of Illinois and while a student at this school, he helped conceive and create the very first internet browser.  He called the first browser Mosaic.  After graduation, he moved to California and created Netscape. Netscape was so popular that its stocks went from $28 to $58 on the first day.  He was just 22 years old when he created Netscape and at age 23 he was worth over $170 million.

Marc Andreessen continued at Netscape as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and then served as their executive vice president of products until America Online acquired the company in 1999. He worked briefly as the CTO of AOL, but left later in 1999 to create Loudcloud, a web services firm.
