The job of a carpenter is a never ending thing because as long as people are in this world, they will live in houses and will need the help of a carpenter to build it. In fact in the future more and more jobs will arise for carpenters, due to the population growth.

The reason also being so many people enter in this field and leave it because it does not suit them, thus leaving space for others to come and also this job requires a person to be physically fit, so older carpenters leave and younger carpenters join the market.

The job market for carpentry basically depends on the population and demand of a country. Certain construction companies close down soon due to reasons such as bad weather conditions. Even a place where businesses are booming, can be a good prospective for carpenters, as more buildings will be developed, thus needing carpenters.

It is expected that in the future, the job market for carpenters will take a gradual increase. However certain ready made materials are making carpentry very easy, thus people at home are doing things by themselves, thus reducing the need for carpenters. However they will not be able to do the same professional job as a professional carpenter would do.

The US Occupational Outlook Handbook is a recognized source of career information-- compiled by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics/DOL. It is designed to help individuals make decisions about their work lives and/or careers. (This handbook is revised every two years.)
In the handbook you can find out how the future of carpentry/carpenters (and other occupations!) looks nationwide (US) and by region... including salary and earnings information, etc.

Here are links to the handbook , found on the the US Dept of Labor website. Good luck to you! I would appreciate it if you rate my answer... Thanks!!

Here is the home page for the handbook....
