According to the US Census Bureau (for 2009), there are 1.8 deaths per second worldwide, meaning that there are over 100 deaths per minute. There are over 150,000 deaths per day and over 55 million deaths per year.

One of the biggest causes of death in the world is cardiovascular disease, with Cancer not far behind. Over one million people died in 2008 as a result of diseases such as AIDS and other STDs.

A large amount of deaths also occur because of accidents such as falls. One of the main causes of death that isn't related to illness are road traffic accidents. Over 480,000 deaths occurred in 2008 as a result of road accidents.

After many calculations and census reports, it is said that the number of people dying and getting born is nearly the same. According to many estimates, 1.78 people die every second. 107 people die every minute. 6390 people die in an hour, 153 thousand people dying each minute, which finally equals to 56 million people dying each year all over the world. It is also estimated that every 1 out of 113 people will die this year. This information is purely an estimate. There will a few seconds that nobody will die and thousands may die in one second. It is also reported that the mortality rate all over the world is increasing every year. The estimated world population by U.S. census bureau is 6,576,456,401 and counting.

Although it's relatively impossible to get an accurate amount, the number of people who die in the world in each second is roughly one point seven eight people per second.

This is one hundred and seven per minute and six thousand, three hundred and ninety per hour and one hundred and fifty three thousand people per day. That's a staggering amount.

The world's population is currently just under six and a half million and mortality rates are fairly low compared to earlier in human history. Obviously the so-called developed world has lower mortality rates, although they have higher rates of obesity!

Birthrates are more complicated and difficult to calculate but the birth rates in the 'third world' are significantly higher than those in the developed world.

The least developed African countries have the highest infant mortality rates.

The top killers of people in the world are heart disease, brain and respiration diseases and HIV-AIDS.

Seeing as though you believe that the world’s population is 6.5 million, I highly doubt the validity of your deaths per second statistic..

Do you mean 6.5 billion? Because the population of the city I live in- alone- is 6.5 million.

People, listen. The rate of death to birth is 7.1 deaths per 8.8 births a second. This is recorded fact. Good question, not so many great answers.
