What Year Was The First "Penicillin Invented"?

Penicillin was invented in the year 1928 by Scottish by the name of Alexander Fleming. Before him many other scientists had already noted its effects but he was the first one to scientifically experiment with it.

Fleming first discovered it when he realised that there was a certain kind of a growth around a contaminated mould. He then let this grow further and observed that it was the penicillin mould that was prohibiting the bacterial growth. Today this is called the 'Penicillium chrysogenum' and the term Penicillin was used to refer to the broth culture of the mould.

When it was first discovered it was thought of as being extremely powerful but he later discovered that it wasn't strong enough to kill the disease causing bacteria in the human body. After this his efforts to purify the penicillin continued till the 1940's.

Ive been told a story by my GP that.Flemming's father pulled a young boy out of a well on the farm.as way of gratitude the wealthy boys father educated Alexander to the same standard as his son.the man was Mr.Churchill his son Winston..year later the young Winston was taken ill,Alex asked if he could try this has discovery on him(PENICILLIN)...IS THIS TRUE OR IS MY GP A GOOD STORY TELLER
