Do You Think That Online Voting Is A Good Idea?

Answer Question

It may well get votes from people who otherwise would not bother to turn out.  The main problems that I can foresee are security and administrative costs.  The UK Inland Revenue has a very secure site that requires pre-registration by post with unique reference numbers etc.  A similar site would be required and I would imagine that this initial registration would be the problem not only administratively but the costs would be very high.

There have been problems with relation to corruption and administration with the postal voting system. So imagine what would happen if you introduced another method of voting into the mix!  The present system is tried and tested, so I would say leave well alone.

What we would have to be careful of is misuse of the voting system.
It does seem a good idea on the surface but how would there be any guarentee taht the person who was on the voting list was actually the person casting the computerised vote.
There is no fail safe way of ensuring that the system would be secure and not open to abuse.

Obviously these abuses take place in  polling stations, although in small communities where everyone knows each other it's harder to cheat.]

It would have to be monitored and scured by giving people unique information to key in before they voted but even this is not 100% secure.
The system could be open to bribery by unscrupulous candidates and party members who might persuade the wrong people to vote for them thus increasing their party's chances of winning an election.

Their are obvious advantages for people who are unable to vote in person e.g the disabled and people abroad but I feel that there are too many loopholes to make it fail safe and secure.

I think its good because you don't need to be bothered to spend time to go to some special place to vote, so online voting may increase voting rates. But the weak point might be a disadvantage to people who may not good at internet or do not own a computer.

If I go to count the advantages of the online system so that will fine
        Advantages
        1) Time benefit
        2) No line
        3) Without the disturbance you poll your vote

Online voting are also the decisions but on spot. And decision making is best one in life. Voting are the decision that you give the courage to others this is your suggestion that whatever you like and give motivation by voting and also voting is just like to appreciate any one, so online voting or offline voting both are a good way to appreciate others, so we mean to appreciate others by online is on the spot to give them courage, & a good idea. Online voting is best decision on time,
Now come a day's online check and balance due to shortage of time online voting save the time and no time consume for online voting.
Now besides online voting you can give you remarks about voting that why do you like this and why are you giving suggestion and choosing.
This idea declare good results and I mention this if we want any type of vote for any purpose that you must enter where this vote become why that one like this, some times we have demerits also, but running days every thing become online marketing, admissions, advertising and more. So at the last I mention this that online voting is best way for judgement for any thing.

Yes, online voting is certainly a good idea, provided proper security mechanisms are put in place. If there is no proper procedure followed to ensure prevention of fraudulent activity then it will be of no use.
