Who Was The Top Goal Scorer In The World Cup Finals Held In Nineteen Ninety Eight?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The nineteen ninety eight world cup finals were held in France and the top goal scorer for the tournament was Davor Suker of Croatia.

In topping the goal scoring charts, he played a large part in his country's highly commendable third place finish.  The Croatians eventually lost in the semi finals to runners up Brazil, but Croatia still managed to a defeat a very competitive Dutch side in the third and fourth place play off.

The final was contested between Brazil and host nation France, with the French running out three nil winners, with inspirational talisman Zinedine Zidane scoring the two opening goals in the final.

England in somewhat typical fashion went out on penalties to old rivals Argentina.  The highlight of the tournament for English fans was the arrival of Micheal Owen to the international scene.  The then Liverpool forward marked his first start of the tournament with a wonder goal against Argentina.
