Can A Joint Savings Account Require Both Parties Signatures To Withdraw?

Answer Question

I do not believe so. But if you are emptying or closing the acct you need both signatures. If the savings is with a checking you can always just transfer money from savings to checking and withdrawl money via ATM. I hope this helps you.

Yes. When you open the account, or if you both go in to the bank (you may have to close it and open a new account), you choose to require that both parties approve transactions. It works the same way as requiring all cheques and withdrawals to be countersigned for a checking/current account. I'm not sure if this is standard law, but I have been offered it before.
