How Does The Type Of Service In Hotels Differ Around The World?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Surprisingly services in hotels can vary starkly across the globe. While the standard one to five stars categorization is the most common, it is by no means universally acceptable. By this, I mean no international body is solely responsible for handing out or adjudging star ratings for hotels. For instance, in some countries, hotels claiming a three-star rating may offer rooms which are not wholly clean or sterile. The problem arises when there is no authoritative or governing body checking on ratings which hotels sometimes give themselves.

Yet in most developed places hotels (typically those with a four or five star rating) usually strictly adhere to quality and service standards set. For instance, in Europe a hotel claiming just two stars could offer private baths while one in another country could mean dirty sheets.
