Is It Right For A Landlord To Deny Rental To Someone Because They Have Music On Their Phone?

I was hurt because this man denied to rent me an apartment because he had to listen to a ringback tone on my phone. He said it wasn't something he was into and told me to never call that number again.

It is not right and there is nothing wrong with it. The only problem is with the landlord. He might be a Psychic patient. His behavior is not normal or he may be a depressed person.

I think you mean "psychiatric". Which I don't think is a great statement, sorry... and I also don't understand what depression has to do with it?

You are right to have been hurt by this, but the problem is that it's down to him. And I'd imagine that this was just an excuse, and he sounds like a wee bit of a jerk :) probably a good job that you *didn't* end up renting from him! Goodness knows what he'd have been like when it came to returning your deposit/bond, or giving you a good reference in the future!

      Lucky escape!

I once denied an applicant because when I called one of their reference's, their ringer was set with a song full of profanity and racist remarks. I was offended and felt that they should have had better judgement when listing their references.
