Are Frogs Mostly Prey Or Predator?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Frogs: Prey or Predator?

Frogs are both prey and predator. In the early stages of a frog's life, it is mainly prey. It is an r-selective species (r-selected species exploit empty niches, and produce many offspring, each of whom has a relatively low probability of surviving to adulthood).

As the frog matures, it moves up the trophic levels from a low secondary consumer to a high secondary consumer (fewer things eat large frogs compared to tadpoles and small frogs).

So the answer to your question is: It depends on at which point in the life cycle of the frog you are directing your question to.
